Hyderabad. Telangana’s ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday wrote an open letter to the central government demanding not to privatize RINL (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant). Rama Rao has also urged the Center to release Rs 5,000 crore to steel manufacturers. The minister said that the BRS party strongly opposes the Centre’s move of disinvestment. He said that we support the employee unions opposing disinvestment.

The central government should allocate Rs 5,000 crore to the Vizag Steel Plant as per its requirement. There are examples of direct fund allocation to the plant during the regimes of former Prime Ministers – PV Narasimha Rao and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He alleged that ever since the formation of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP’s agenda has been to sell public sector institutions. He claimed that the Center was conspiring to sell steel plants worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore to private companies.
