Reliance launches Jio Air Fiber in 8 cities

New Delhi : Reliance Jio, India’s largest telco, announced the launch of its much-awaited 5G home broadband service Jio AirFiber in eight metros. These cities are Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani had made this announcement in the company’s 46th annual general meeting last month.
The company said Jio AirFiber will offer world-class digital entertainment, smart home services and broadband to millions of homes through its education, health, surveillance and other solutions. Jio, the world’s largest private mobile data network, today announced the launch of Jio AirFiber services, its integrated solution for home entertainment, smart home services and high-speed broadband, across eight metros, the company said in a statement.
Jio’s optical fiber infrastructure extends over 15 lakh kilometers across India. Its extensive optical-fibre presence brings Jio closer to more than 20 lakh premises. Despite this, it is very difficult to provide ‘connectivity’ to remote areas in most parts of the country. In such a situation, millions of potential customers are deprived of home broadband.
JioFiber already serving more than 1 crore customers:
Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, said, JioFiber, our comprehensive fiber-to-the-home service, already serves more than one crore customers and is adding a large number of people every month. Despite this, millions of homes and small businesses are still yet to be connected. He said that with Jio AirFiber, the company is expanding to provide the same quality of service to every household in the country.
