The incident comes more than a week after the arches of an Ahmadi community place of worship were destroyed in defiance of a high court order banning such actions against places of worship of the minority community built before 1984.

In a fresh attack on the Ahmadi community in Pakistan, the minarets of three places of worship of the minority group in different districts of Punjab province were demolished by radical Islamists. Fundamentalists alleged that these minarets were a symbol of a Muslim mosque. The incident comes more than a week after the arches of an Ahmadi community place of worship were destroyed in defiance of a high court order banning such actions against places of worship of the minority community built before 1984. In 1974, the Parliament of Pakistan declared the Ahmadi community as non-Muslims. He is banned from even calling himself a Muslim.

Jamaat-e-Ahmadiya Pakistan official Amir Mahmood said that identifying the minarets of Ahmadi places of worship with Muslim mosques, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) activists attacked Sheikhupura, Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur in Punjab during the last few days. Three Ahmadi places of worship in the districts were attacked and their minarets demolished. With these recent incidents, the number of Ahmadis places of worship attacked by radical Islamists or partially demolished by police in various parts of Pakistan during this year has increased to 31.

As soon as TLP stormed these three Ahmadi places of worship, the police did nothing to stop it. Ahmadis are being deprived of their basic rights as citizens living in Pakistan. The sad thing is that the police have also been at the forefront in carrying out these acts. Mahmood said that the recent decision of the Lahore High Court clearly states that there is no need for any change in the minarets of Ahmadi places of worship built before 1984.
