Rohit Sharma’s big statement after winning Asia Cup, said – Ashwin is also part of ‘World Cup plan’

Colombo (Uttam Hindu News)-Indian captain Rohit Sharma has given information about many of his teammates regarding the team’s World Cup preparations. He expressed full confidence that everyone will be fully fit before the team tournament. Despite Sri Lanka being very strong in the Asia Cup final, the captain was missing several key players. Additionally, the team combination for the domestic World Cup campaign has not been decided yet.
The team captain is confident of the full recovery of all-rounder Axar Patel and batsman Shreyas Iyer before the first match of the World Cup on October 8. However, he admitted that the spin-bowling all-rounder may be out of the team for some time. “It seems like it will probably take a week or ten days for him to recover,” Rohit was quoted as saying. Some people recover quickly from injuries and I hope the same happens with him.” Rohit also gave an update on Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin and said that they are “99 percent fit”. Iyer was ruled out of the Asia Cup due to minor back spasms. However, Rohit told that now he is better than before. The captain said, “Shreyas was not available (for the final) because certain criteria were kept for him. I think he finished rehab for the most part. I must say he is 99 percent fine as of now.” Rohit said that despite not being called as Axar’s replacement for the Asia Cup final, the experienced spinner is still in the race for a place in the World Cup squad. Rohit said, “As a spinner-all-rounder, Ashwin is at the front of the line. Akshar got injured in the last minute. Washington was available, so we decided to go with him.” He further said that Washington was fit for the match as he was part of the Asian Games camp (in Bengaluru). I am very clear with the players about their roles. Everyone is in the loop.
