On Tuesday, the police arrested Siraj Shaikh, a resident of Govindpur village, accused of buying and selling stolen bikes. It is alleged that he also used to invest money on interest. In return for this, he used to mortgage people’s bikes. The police was continuously receiving information in this regard for the last several days. Many people had also complained to the police in this regard. After receiving the information, the SIT formed under the leadership of City SP Ajit Kumar raided the house of Siraj Sheikh in Govindpur village on Tuesday. In this sequence, 12 bikes were seized from the house. Siraj has been sent to jail on Wednesday. In this regard, an FIR has been registered in Govindpur police station (Case 87/2024 dated 2-4-2024) under sections 413, 414, 484 and 506 and section 5 of Jharkhand Private Money Lending Provision 2016. Here, on Wednesday, City SP held a press conference at Govindpur police station and informed about the incident. Govindpur police inspector cum station incharge Ravikant Prasad, Nirsa police station incharge cum inspector Manjeet Kumar and others were present on the spot. The raid team included Nirsa circle inspector Akshay Ram, SI Shailendra Kumar, Dinesh Prasad Mehta, ASI Vijay Kumar Srivastava, constable Shivnarayan Mahato, Meghnath Singh, Sarju Ram, Sanjay Mahato etc.

Used to make the needy victims:

City SP Ajit Kumar told that Siraj Shaikh used to trap needy people. He used to lend money at high interest rates by mortgaging his bike. Along with this, he also used to buy stolen bikes. During the raid, out of the 12 bikes recovered from his house, four were found in which the engine and chassis had been punched. The bike number has been put in its place. Along with this, many bikes did not have number plates, while many bikes had been modified. City SP said that the police will soon take him on remand. The matter will be revealed after interrogation.

Four people reached the police station:

Police said that as soon as information about Siraj Shaikh’s arrest was received, four people reached the police station and told that they had taken money from him on interest. He had mortgaged his bike. Not only this, apart from the principal amount, he used to take one thousand rupees per month as interest.

Used to run business on rented house:

Police said that when Siraj Shaikh’s house was raided, it was found that he runs his business from a rented house and there was a crowd of people there.
