New Delhi, 9 February (HS). The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) on Friday approved the proposals of judokas Himanshi Tokas, Shraddha Chopre and Asmita Dey to participate in multiple competitions.
Junior Asian Championships gold medalist Himanshi and Junior Oceania Championships gold medalist Shraddha won the France Grand Slam in Paris, Azerbaijan Grand Slam in Baku respectively; Will take part in the Uzbekistan Grand Slam in Tashkent and the Austria Grand Prix in Linz. On the other hand, Junior Asian Cup champion Asmita will join the pair in Paris for the France Grand Slam.
“MYAS, under its Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), will cover their airfare, boarding/accommodation, insurance and local transportation costs for all these competitions and training periods,” the ministry release said.
The MOC has also approved rifle shooter Elavenil Valarivan’s request to participate in the upcoming ISSF World Cup in Spain under the Ranking Points Only (RPO) category. “Elavenil’s expenses including airfare, entry fees, training fees, local transportation costs, visa and insurance fees will be covered under the TOPS funding,” the ministry said.
