New Delhi. The next 25 years are important for Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. According to him, with artificial intelligence (AI) the company has the opportunity to do things that matter on a larger scale.

As Google looks ahead, the Indian-origin tech mogul is reflecting on the commitment from the original founder’s letter in 2004, “To develop services that improve the lives of as many people as possible – the things that To do what matters.”

According to Pichai, “We’re just starting to see what the next wave of technology is capable of and how quickly it can improve.”

Today, one million people are using generative AI in Google Workspace to “write and create.” The flood forecast now covers places where more than 460 million (46 crore) people live.

One million researchers have used the AlphaFold database, covering 200 million predictions of protein structures, to help cut plastic pollution, tackle antibiotic resistance, fight malaria, and much more.

“We have shown how AI can help the airline industry reduce disruptions to planes, a key step in fighting climate change,” he said in a detailed post on “Quarter Century of Change”. It’s an important tool.”

Still, there is much more to come.

Over time, AI will be the biggest technological change we have seen in our lifetime. This is bigger than the shift from desktop computing to mobile, and it may be bigger than the Internet. It is a radical reinvention of technology and an incredible accelerator of human ingenuity.

“Making AI more useful to everyone and deploying it responsibly is the most important way to fulfill our mission for the next 10 years and beyond,” said Sundar Pichai.

He specifically said, “Our search for answers will drive extraordinary technology advancements over the next 25 years. If, in 2048, somewhere in the world, a teenager looks at everything we’ve created with AI and shrugs, , then we’ll know we’ve succeeded. Then, we’ll get back to work.”

An essential truth of innovation is that as soon as one crosses the limits of a technology, it soon becomes exceptionally common.

According to Pichai, “That’s why Google never took our success for granted.”

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, respectively the CEO and president of Google’s parent company, Alphabet, first wrote the mission 25 years ago – to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

“He had an ambitious vision of a new kind of search engine to help people make sense of the waves of information moving online.”

“The product he created, Google Search, has helped billions of people around the world find answers to their questions,” Pichai said.

According to Sundar Pichai, the questions asked at Google have evolved over time, from “How do you fix a leaky faucet?”, “Fastest route to Stanford Hospital?”, “How to calm a crying baby?” , “How to crack a Google interview?”… Google has gotten much better at answering them over time.

Search also laid the foundation for Google to have an economic impact beyond its walls.

According to Pichai, “Search is still at the core of our mission, and it’s still our biggest effort, and there’s still a lot more to do. Of course, Google today is much more than a search box. We have 15 Google products , each of which serves more than half a billion people and businesses, there are six products that serve more than 2 billion users.

Like most Google searches, all those products started with a question.

With Gmail, it was – can we offer everyone 1GB of storage? In 2004, when Gmail launched, the amount of storage was 100 times more than most other free webmail services!

“Then a few years later, we saw an opportunity to dramatically improve web browsers – and in turn the web – for people everywhere. With Chrome we asked, could we create a browser that combined the simplicity, speed And improve the web with security? Just before launch, my own question was, will people use it?”

The questions kept coming and Google kept improving and expanding its products with new answers. Designing products that help people at scale is both a privilege and a responsibility.

People have questions: Can we trust these new technologies?

“We think deeply about how to build responsible technology from the ground up, whether it’s making sure everyone’s information is safe and secure, or keeping people safe from bad actors online,” said the Alphabet CEO. “(IANS)
