Target to complete construction of India-Nepal inland petroleum pipeline by March. Loktej World News
Kathmandu, 11 February (HS). With the cooperation of the Government of India, the work on the second phase of the inland petroleum pipeline has been targeted to be completed by the end of March. There is a plan to inaugurate the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections in India even before the implementation of the code of conduct by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the construction of this pipeline between Motihari in Bihar and Amleshganj in Nepal, there will be direct supply of petrol and kerosene oil like diesel.
A team of senior officials of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has come to Nepal these days to inspect the progress of the inland pipeline under construction. This inspection team has taken stock of the construction work going on from Birganj to Amleshganj. Amleshganj depot head Vineet Mani Upadhyay said that till now 60 percent of the work has been completed and the contractor company has been instructed to complete this work in the next two months.
IOC Country Manager Nirupam Raizada has asked the contractor company to increase manpower and continue the work in three shifts i.e. 24 hours. Dharmendra Kumar Singh, project manager of this petroleum pipeline, said that everyone is engaged in it with the aim of completing the project by the end of March. IOC representatives said that if there is any problem then tell them now but in any case it will have to be completed within the prescribed limit. A total of Rs 214 crore is estimated to be spent on the construction of this petroleum pipeline. In this, Rs 100 crore is being invested by IOC, while the remaining Rs 114 crore is being invested by Nepal Oil Corporation. The first phase of the pipeline was jointly inaugurated in 2020 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the then Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli with the full support of the Government of India. Diesel is currently being imported through that pipeline. Petrol and kerosene oil will be imported through the newly constructed pipeline.
