Tata Motors expressed hope that car sales will be good this year too!
Tata Motors : Vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors expects sales of domestic passenger vehicles, especially SUVs, to remain strong in the current financial year as well. Shailesh Chandra, managing director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Tata Passengers Electric Mobility, said in a conversation that the company has set a target of selling one lakh electric passenger vehicles for the financial year 2023-24. Last year this figure was around 50,000 e-vehicles.
The indicators are good so far on the level of demand sustainability, Chandra said. However, the benefits arising out of stalled demand coming to the fore and less number of finished vehicles have now reduced. He said that despite the absence of these two components, the consumer preference for Tata Motors vehicles continues. He said, apart from first-time vehicle buyers, the demand for SUVs is very high among new car buyers.
Chandra said that till just two years ago, the size of the domestic vehicle industry was being told as 30 lakh vehicles, but last year itself it has gone beyond 39 lakh. He said, this year if it remains even at 41 lakh units then there will be a very good growth. (with language input)
