The output of eight basic industries had increased by 8.9 per cent in January this year. There was an increase of seven percent in December 2022 and 5.7 percent in November 2022. Production has increased in all except crude oil.

The growth rate of eight basic industries of the country stood at 6 per cent in February this year. This is almost equal to the 5.9 percent increase in the same month last year. This information was given in the official data released on Friday. The growth in basic industries in February is the lowest in the last three months. The output of eight basic industries had increased by 8.9 per cent in January this year. There was an increase of seven percent in December 2022 and 5.7 percent in November 2022. Production has increased in all except crude oil.

Crude oil production declined by 4.9 percent in February. The growth rate of eight basic industries… coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, fertiliser, steel, cement and electricity… stood at 7.8 per cent during April-February of the financial year 2022-23, which was 7.8 per cent in the previous financial year 2021. -22 had 11.1 percent in the same period. These basic industries have a weight of 40.27 per cent in the Index of Industrial Production.

According to the data, the production of fertiliser, coal, electricity, cement, steel, refinery products and natural gas has increased in February 2023 as compared to the same month last year. Coal production increased by 8.5 percent and fertilizer production by 22.2 percent in February. However, the rate of growth in the production of natural gas and refinery products has been slow in the month under review.
