London. ‘Game of Thrones’ actress Indira Varma, who many will remember for her stellar debut in Mira Nair’s ‘Kamasutra: A Tale of Love’, has joined the new series ‘Doctor Hoon’. According to ‘Variety’, Indira Varma will be seen as the Duchess, in what has been described by the BBC as a ‘mysterious new role’. She was previously part of the ‘Doctor Who’ universe as Suzy Costello in Russell T. Davies’ spin-off series ‘Torchwood’.

Varma’s recent roles include the Netflix show ‘Junoon’ and the Disney Plus Star Wars franchise series ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’. He won an Olivier, Britain’s highest award for professional theatre, for his role in ‘Present Laughter’, Noel Coward’s dazzling 1943 comedy staged at the Old Vic in 2019.

‘Doctor Hoon’ follows the adventures of the Time Lord known as the Doctor, a supernatural being with a human appearance. The Doctor travels the universe in a time-travelling spaceship called the TARDIS.

The series returns in November with Tennant as the Doctor and three special episodes to coincide with the show’s 60th anniversary.(IANS)
