The journey to the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is considered one of the most sacred and difficult pilgrimages in the country.

If you want to visit Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, then first of all take a train from New Delhi to Katra for Vaishno Devi, for which you will have to spend Rs 350 to 1000 for Non AC and Third. Now reach for the bus station from here.

Vaishno Devi pilgrimage place is situated at an altitude of 5 thousand 300 feet above sea level and one has to climb about 13 kilometers from base camp Katra to reach Mata Ka Darbar which is also known as Bhawan.

If you want, you can also ride a horse, mule, pittu or palanquin, which are easily available to go from Katra to Bhavan.

Before starting the journey, it is necessary to get the registration done because on the basis of the registration slip only one gets a chance to have darshan in the mandi. There are many points between Katra to Bhawan which include Banganga, Charpaduka, Indraprastha, Ardhakuvari, Garbhjoon, Himkoti, Sanjhi Chhat and Bhairon Mandir but the mid-point of the journey is Ardhakuvari.

From Sanjhi Chhat you have to travel just 2.5 kms on foot.
