Wang Yi meets Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov – Dainik Savera Times

On September 18, local time, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow. On this occasion, Wang Yi said that under the strategic guidance of the major leaders of the two countries, relations between China and Russia have maintained a healthy and stable development momentum, practical cooperation between the two countries is continuously deepening, humanities and cultural Contacts are becoming rich and colorful and exchanges between people are increasing rapidly.
A China-Russia relationship of enduring good-neighborliness, comprehensive strategic coordination and mutually beneficial cooperation will enhance the development and revitalization of both countries and bring significant benefits to the people. Wang Yi further said that both China and Russia pursue independent foreign policies. The cooperation between the two parties does not target third parties, is not interfered with by third parties, and is not influenced by third parties.
As major countries and permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and Russia bear important responsibilities for maintaining global strategic stability and enhancing world development and progress. In the face of unilateral actions, hegemonicism and camp confrontation, China and Russia should demonstrate the responsibility of big countries in accordance with the progressive trend of the era and fulfill their proper international obligations.
At the same time, the two countries should adhere to true multilateralism through strengthening strategic coordination, enhance world multipolarity, and move global governance in a more fair and reasonable direction. Sergei Lavrov said that this March, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a successful visit to Russia and held an important meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which set a clear direction for the future of Russia-China relations.
According to this, Russia is ready to prepare for high-level exchanges with China, integrate development plans, and enhance cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, humanities, sports and youth. In the face of complex and dramatic changes in the international situation, Russia and China should strengthen coordination and cooperation within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, so as to simultaneously safeguard the basic norms of international relations.
Both sides appreciated the historic expansion of the BRICS countries and expressed their desire to join hands with all member countries to build a “big BRICS” platform of unity, cooperation and common development. Lavrov said Russia will fulfill its role as the current chair of BRICS and work with China to enhance the greater development of the BRICS cooperation mechanism.
Lavrov presented his views on the Ukraine crisis. He appreciated that China’s stance takes into account the security concerns of all parties and is conducive to eliminating the root causes of the conflict. Russia adopts an open attitude towards talks and dialogue. Wang Yi said China always adheres to the correct direction of peace talks and will play a constructive role in the political resolution of the crisis in its own way. Both sides also discussed and coordinated international and regional issues of common concern.
