Director Kiran Rao is all set for his next project Lapata Ladies. She has maintained a cordial relationship with her ex-husband even after getting divorced. Kiran was also present at the wedding ceremonies of Aamir’s daughter Ira Khan in Udaipur and Mumbai. Kiran and Aamir have previously worked together in many projects including Dangal, Delhi Belly and Peepli Live. However, Missing Ladies is not only produced under Aamir Khan’s banner but also co-produced by Kiran Rao’s banner, Kindling Pictures. Speaking about the same, the director recently explained why he co-produced the upcoming film.
In an interview to News 18, Kiran said, “I can’t expect Aamir to make whatever I make. Aamir especially works in a way where he doesn’t do anything just because of his son, his daughter, his wife or his brother… one should work on this idea first. “At the same time, we must make it within a budget that will support the idea.”
She also talked about her future plans of working with Aamir and said, “It’s not because I don’t want to work with AKP in any way. I feel this is a place (their production house) where it gives me the freedom to develop whatever I want to make. Aamir Khan Productions has given me space to do whatever I want to do. I have been associated with every production. I will always be associated with AKP. I think it’s mine. I am one of the directors and I will not leave it. ‘I am spiritually and emotionally connected to the AKP.’
