San Francisco: IT major Wipro has laid off at least 120 employees in the US state of Florida due to ‘restructuring business requirements’. According to the report, the company detailed the layoffs in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. The job cuts by Wipro are only at one location in Tampa.

“More than 100 of the affected employees are processing agents,” the report said. The rest are the team leader and a team manager. Wipro said in a statement that this is an isolated incident. According to the report, the layoffs, which are permanent, will begin in May. The Indian IT major earlier this month announced the opening of its US headquarters in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

Wipro has approximately 20,500 employees in the United States, Canada and LATAM (Mexico and Brazil). In India, Wipro fired over 400 new hires in January for poor performance in internal assessment tests.
