Islamabad: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that former UAE batsman Usman Khan is in contention to be selected for the upcoming T20 home series against New Zealand despite serving a five-year ban. Local news channel Geo News quoted Mohsin Naqvi as saying, Usman Khan is the right player for Pakistan and he will play for the national team.
Usman was part of the recently concluded fitness camp of 29 players, which was organized by the trainers of Pakistan Army. Last week, the 28-year-old was banned for five years by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) after being found guilty of breaching his obligations.
According to local media reports, Usman’s inclusion in the national team can be mainly attributed to his impressive performances in the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 9). Khan won several awards while representing the Multan Sultans franchise.
