Kasmar (Bokaro): There was chaos in Hisim and Khudibeda villages of Kasmar block of Bokaro district of Jharkhand on Saturday when a herd of elephants entered in broad daylight. The herd consists of about 32 elephants, which are divided into different groups. During this time, the herd of elephants trampled and destroyed the wheat and other crops of many villagers of nearby villages including Khudibeda.

The herd of elephants arrived early in the morning
According to the information, the herd of elephants entered the village at around 9:00 am through the dense forest of Hisim-Kedla and Sewati. After some time, the herd reached Khudibeda and started trampling the crops growing in the fields on the edge of the village. The wheat crop of about two acres of Chhotu Ram Mahato, Rajan Mahato and Ajit Mahato of Khudibeda was trampled and destroyed. Apart from this, crops of more than a dozen villagers have also been destroyed. Villagers of Khudibeda told that after almost 10 years, a herd of elephants has entered the village in broad daylight. Due to this, an atmosphere of panic was established in the village. Due to Bhokta Parab being organized in nearby Singhpur and Pirgul, there was a large number of devotees coming and going. There was fear among them also because of the herd of elephants. A group was camping on the roadside near Mahadev Beda of Hisim. Lalu Mahato of Hisim told that due to this the traffic of villagers remained very less.

Alerted the devotees by miking
Singhpur Puja Committee was repeatedly alerting the devotees through miking. After receiving information about the incident, forest worker Thakurdas Mahato reached the spot and roamed the village and took stock of the damage. Mr. Mahato said that information about the damage has been given to the department officials. On the other hand, Chairman of Joint Village Forest Management Committee Khudibeda, Adhirchandra Chakraborty has expressed concern over the herd of elephants entering the village in broad daylight. Said that if a herd of elephants starts entering the village in this way, there can be huge loss of life and property. Said: The Forest Department and the Government should immediately take concrete steps in this direction, so that elephants can be prevented from entering the village.
