AI and machine learning technology will detect fraud in Ayushman Bharat scheme

Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning Technology: The Government of India uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to detect suspicious transactions and potential frauds under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Minister of State for Health SP Singh Baghel has given this information to the Rajya Sabha.
In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, he told that these technologies are used for detection, prevention and redressal of healthcare frauds in the implementation of the scheme. He said that these technologies are helpful in ensuring proper treatment for the eligible beneficiaries. He informed that technology partners are being roped in for development and deployment of anti-fraud measures using AI and ML. The minister told the Upper House that till August 1, 2023, a total of 24.33 crore Ayushman cards have been made under the scheme.

What is Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana?
Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is a health insurance scheme launched by the Government of India. The scheme provides health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh to all poor and vulnerable families in India. The scheme was launched in 2018 and aims to improve the access and quality of healthcare in India.
Under AB-PMJAY, the beneficiary need not bear the expenses up to Rs 5 lakh for treatment in any government or private hospital. The hospital will be paid under the scheme. Under the scheme, the beneficiary does not require any kind of pre-registration or documents. They can go to any government or private hospital and get treated.
AB-PMJAY has been a huge success. So far, more than 100 million beneficiaries have been provided health insurance coverage under the scheme. Lakhs of people have got treatment for serious diseases under the scheme.
AB-PMJAY is playing a vital role in improving the access and quality of health care in India. This scheme is helping to provide health care to the poor and vulnerable families of India.
