Union Minister for Road Transport Highways Nitin Gadkari Recently, at the EV EXPO 2023 held in Delhi, he said that by 2030, about 1 crore electric vehicles will be sold every year in India and this will generate about 5 crore jobs.

Gadkari said, “India is the third largest automotive market in the world. At present, the auto industry is worth about Rs 12.5 lakh crore, every year there is an increase of 10 percent in the number of vehicles.”

He also said, “India’s auto sector alone is responsible for 40 percent of the carbon dioxide emissions in the country. Vehicles running on diesel engines are the main cause of pollution and are extremely harmful for the environment.”

Carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by 1 giga tonne by 2030

Gadkari said, “We are working in a mission mode to decarbonize the transport sector, in this effort low-emission transport such as electric vehicles are playing an important role. Electric vehicles are the best utility for transportation. , are safe and clean. If we switch completely to electric vehicles instead of regular vehicles, CO2 emissions can be reduced by 1 giga tonne by 2030.”

Demand for electric vehicles is increasing rapidly in India

The demand for electric vehicles is increasing rapidly in India. According to vehicle data, till now 34.54 lakh electric vehicles have been registered in India. Regarding employment opportunities in the EV sector, Gadkari said, “The demand for electric vehicles is increasing rapidly in the country and this will create employment for about 5 crore jobs.”

Government is giving subsidy on electric vehicles
