New Delhi : Toyota Kirloskar Motor has supplied the Hilux pick-up truck after Mahindra & Mahindra delivered the Scorpio Classic to the Indian Army. Vehicle manufacturer Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced that it has handed over a fleet of Toyota Hilux to the Indian Army. The Hilux was subjected to an extensive and rigorous evaluation for over 2 months by the Northern Command of the Indian Army. The pick-up truck was tested in extreme weather and rough terrain ranging from altitudes of up to 13,000 feet to sub-zero temperatures.

Powering the Hilux is a 2.8-litre engine, a four-cylinder diesel engine, that produces 201bhp of max power and 420 Nm in manual gearbox and 500 Nm of peak torque output in automatic transmission. Both the transmissions are 6-speed units and there is a 4×4 system available as standard.
Two variants of Hilux
Hilux has been introduced in two variants STD and High. The STD is offered only with a manual gearbox, while the higher variants get a manual gearbox as well as an automatic transmission. Hilux price starts at Rs. 30.40 Lakh and goes upto Rs. 37.90 Lakh. Both the prices are ex-showroom.

The company has kept safety features like seven SRS airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, electronic system for better control according to weather and road, tire angle monitor, front parking sensor, power and eco driving modes and 4X4 as standard in all variants.

The company has announced that it has delivered the first batch of Scorpio Classic to the Indian Army. According to a media report, the Indian Army will deploy the vehicles delivered by the company in 12 units. Scorpio Classic is an updated new version of Scorpio.
