In this sequence, JCB Power Systems has showcased Asia’s first JCB backhoe loader running on hydrogen, which was inaugurated by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Milestone in reducing carbon emissions
It is being told in media reports that to reduce carbon emissions in infrastructure manufacturing, JCB has manufactured a hydrogen-powered backhoe loader. For this the company has invested 100 million US dollars. The report said that JCB backhoe loader will prove to be a milestone in reducing carbon emissions in infrastructure construction. JCB Power Systems has developed a backhoe loader using hydrogen gas, which is available in abundance in nature, which can easily transport goods to construction sites.
Will work like a diesel engine
It is being claimed by the company that the hydrogen-powered JCB backhoe loader will work just like a diesel engine-powered vehicle. Its engine will be filled with hydrogen gas instead of diesel as fuel. Its motor will also generate power like diesel engines, but it will not emit carbon.
Much better than electric vehicles
Comparing hydrogen-powered machines with electric vehicles, JCB said that electric vehicles consume more electricity to charge the battery and electric vehicles are not practical for working in remote areas. Especially in big excavators, there is some difficulty in working with them and after the battery gets discharged in the middle of work, there is no arrangement to charge it again. In such a situation the work stops. He said that the weight of the batteries of electric vehicles is so much that there is difficulty in taking them from the construction site to other places. In such a situation, hydrogen is the only option which can be used as fuel in heavy vehicles like JCB.
Zero-carbon solution: Hydrogen plays an important role
Let us tell you that hydrogen is available in abundance in nature, whose use as a fuel was started. Especially, the use of hydrogen motor in vehicles is being made practical.
