Ban on sharing Disney Plus passwords from November 1

San Francisco. After Netflix, Disney Plus is now going to ban account sharing for its users in Canada. It will be implemented from November 1.

The company has informed customers about the change via email, which Disney CEO Bob Iger hinted at in August, Engadget reports.

In the subscriber agreement, Disney states that only one person per household will be allowed to login.

The agreement also suggests that Disney Plus will introduce new fee options for users who want to add outside members to their accounts.

The company is following in the footsteps of Netflix, which officially began restricting password sharing in the US and other countries in May. Details have not been released yet.

However, Netflix has set a precedent with its $8 fee per person per month. On November 1, customers in Canada and parts of Europe will get access to a less expensive ad-supported tier of the streaming service, which is available in the US starting in 2022, the report said.

Last week, Amazon announced it would introduce ‘limited ads’ to its Prime Video streaming service in 2024 as it aims to plow more cash into making TV shows and movies.

Additionally, the company said it would introduce an “ad-free” membership tier for Prime members in the US for an additional $2.99 ​​per month. A similar move was taken by competitors like Disney Plus and Netflix.
