BJP is betting on backward caste candidate in Jharkhand, see full list

Ranchi : BJP has announced the names of candidates for all its 13 seats under the NDA alliance in the state. Of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, eight are general (unreserved). One seat is reserved for Scheduled Caste and five seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe. BJP has changed its candidates on five out of eight seats including 2019 and 2024 elections, whereas in the last election, one seat (Giridih) won in 2014 was given by BJP to AJSU under the alliance.
Out of the six Lok Sabha constituencies where BJP has changed its candidates in the last two elections, it has fielded OBC candidates on four seats. In the last election in Ranchi, Sanjay Seth was made the candidate by cutting the ticket of Ramtahal Chaudhary. Earlier also there were candidates from backward castes on this seat and even after the change, tickets were given to the candidates of the same category. In such a situation, BJP is focusing on OBCs in Jharkhand. In the upcoming elections, BJP has fielded OBCs on five out of eight unreserved seats, while OBC candidates are likely to contest on one seat, Giridih, which has been left for AJSU. Chandraprakash Choudhary was AJSU’s candidate from here in the last elections.
Two changes made in the year 2019
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had changed its candidates on Ranchi and Koderma seats. In Koderma, Annapurna Devi, who came to BJP from RJD, got the ticket in place of Ravindra Rai. Annapurna Devi was later made the Union Minister of State. In Ranchi, Sanjay Seth was made the candidate in place of Ramtahal Chaudhary. Both belong to OBC category.
Candidates changed on three seats this year
This year, BJP has changed its candidates on three unreserved seats. In this, MLA Manish Jaiswal has been given ticket in place of Jayant Sinha from Hazaribagh, MLA Dhulu Mahato has been given ticket in place of PN Singh from Dhanbad and Kalicharan Singh has been given ticket in place of Sunil Singh from Chatra. Of these, in Hazaribagh and Dhanbad, BJP has given tickets to backward caste candidates.
