Block feature will be removed from Musk X

New Delhi. Elon Musk has said that the block feature on X (formerly Twitter) is being removed and users will no longer be able to block others except direct messages (DMs), a move that angered many users.

Block Restricts fellow users from interacting with, viewing, and following an account.

Musk said, the ‘mute’ feature will still be there on the social media platform.

“The block is being removed as a ‘feature’, except for DMs,” the tech billionaire told a follower.

He added, “It doesn’t make any sense.”

In June, Musk said that Twitter should remove the blocking in favor of “a stronger form of mute”.

He also complained of massive blocking campaigns against users who have always subscribed to Twitter Blue.

The suggestion to remove the block feature, considered by many users as a security feature, also saw a response from concerned users.

The Tesla Owners Silicon Valley account posted, “It’s worth keeping in my opinion. Unfortunately trolls and spammers come out. Haters will always try to get some fame by trolling accounts and mud-slinging their name and being able to control the experience matters. At least for each of the users.”

Another concerned user posted, “Women will never be able to block abusers and those men will still be able to stalk.”

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey came out in support of Musk.

He posted, “Just 100 per cent mute.”

But a majority of X users said that removing the block feature is “a terrible idea”.(IANS)
