Chaiti Chhath Puja 2024: The four-day ritual of Chaiti Chhath started with Nahay-Khay on Friday, Chaitra Shukla Chaturthi Tithi. Today, from Friday, April 12, the four-day festival of folk faith, Chaiti Chhath has started. Today is the first day of the great festival Chaiti Chhath. Kharna will be held on Saturday, 13th April. Arghya will be offered in the evening on Sunday, 14th April. This festival will end with offering Arghya to Lord Bhaskar on Monday morning, 15th April. Today, on the first day of Chhath fast, people will bathe and eat pumpkin and rice with complete purity. Chhath Vratis will take a bath in Ganga, bring Ganga water to their homes and perform puja, take Arwa rice, rock salt, gram dal, bottle gourd vegetable, Amla chutney etc. and take a pledge for the four-day ritual.
Resolve to fast for 36 hours without water today
Today the devotees will take a pledge to fast for 36 hours without taking bath or food. Today the process of Nahay-Khay will be completed in Rohini Nakshatra and Ayushman Yoga. On Saturday, April 13, during Mrigashira Nakshatra and Shobhan Yoga, the devotees will remain fasting for the whole day, perform Kharna puja in the evening and take kheer made of jaggery as Prasad and take a pledge of 36 hours of waterless fast.
During Ardra Nakshatra, the fasting person will offer Arghya to the setting sun.
Chhath Vrati will offer Arghya to the setting sun in Ardra Nakshatra on Sunday, 14th April. At the same time, on April 15, the four-day long festival will be completed by offering Arghya to the rising sun. There is a religious belief that performing Chhath Puja brings welfare to the family. Along with this, this fast is also considered very important for the long life and happiness and prosperity of the children, married couples who are facing difficulties in conceiving a child can have a child with the blessings of Chhathi Maiya.
