About 19,000 electric vehicles were sold in the first quarter
The company sold around 19,000 electric vehicles in the first quarter of the current financial year and is looking forward to setting up a separate sales infrastructure for its electric vehicle portfolio. In an interaction with analysts, Shailesh Chandra, managing director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said that demand for EVs is now growing beyond the top 20 cities in the country.
Sales of EVs increased in many parts
He said, “Now its demand is moving towards other parts of the country… This is a good sign of how EV sales will grow from here.” There has been a change.
Tiago EV sales up over 49 percent
He added that more than 49 per cent of Tiago EV sales are now coming from cities other than the top 20 cities. Chandra said, “Hence, we have started expanding our network in those smaller cities. Along with expanding in these cities, we are also building service capacity. Also, engineers are being trained for those service stations.” He also said that the company may consider separating EV showrooms from existing sales outlets to meet the needs of customers across the country.
