In an environment where they are role models, you can either become a local goon, if you don’t want to be a local goon, you know your path is to basically become a civil servant.”
He added: “This is poverty of aspiration, although it is better than being a punk. I mean, why in the end – if you have to dream, then definitely you should dream of becoming Elon Musk or Mukesh Ambani. Why did you dream of becoming a joint secretary? You are not dreaming of becoming Sachin and Binny Bansal of Flipkart. Yes, so this is what I am making.”
Sanyal thought that Bihar has the leaders it has chosen. Sanyal also said “You know, you need to think about how society thinks about risk taking and scale and so on. So I think one of the problems of a place like Bihar is not that there were bad leaders. Bad leaders are a reflection of what that society wants. So if you are aspiring for it, you will get it.”
