San Francisco. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk thought the ChatGPIT-maker company would fail. So they decided to separate.

In an interview with podcaster Lex Friedman, Sam Altman said that Elon Musk thought OpenAI was going to fail. He wanted complete control to change it. We wanted to keep moving forward in what has now become OpenAI. He also wanted Tesla to be able to build an AGI effort.

Sam Altman further explained that at times he wanted to make OpenAI a profitable company, which he could control or it could merge with Tesla. We didn’t want to do that and they decided to leave, which is fine.

Sam Altman suggested that the company is still committed to its original purpose. The company is giving powerful technology to people for free.

He further said that we do not run advertisements on our free version. We don’t monetize it in other ways. We just say it’s part of our mission. We want to put more and more powerful tools into people’s hands for free and let them use them.

Recently, Elon Musk sued OpenAI and Altman. Elon Musk was accused of violating his original contractual agreements around AI.

After this, OpenAI hit back at Musk’s lawsuit, saying, “When the company discussed the profitable structure to pursue the mission, Elon Musk wanted us to merge with Tesla or he wanted complete control.” ”
