Game of illegal recovery from trucks going on in Bhagalpur

Bhagalpur District Truck Owner Association has accused the police of various police stations and concerned police officials of unnecessarily stopping the trucks coming and going in Bhagalpur district and making illegal recovery. In this regard, Association President Deepnarayan Singh Deepak has written a letter to the District Magistrate complaining about illegal recovery from trucks. The District President has also presented information about the suspicious action taken by the police on April 8 along with evidence.

What happened on April 8th

It is mentioned in the application that on April 8, the police caught 13 vehicles with highway number BR 10 GC 3518 near Puraini on Jagdishpur Road. Fine action was taken against 13 vehicles. But Haiwa number 10 GC 3518 was weighed on the weighing scale. The weight was 49870 kg. According to the rules, vehicles weighing more than 47500 kg come under the category of overloaded vehicles. Truck Association says that after keeping the Haiva at Khiribandh TOP for 4 to 5 hours, it was released without any fine.

The association says that the basis on which the vehicle was released without any fine, either the officer did not have proper knowledge of the transport rules or he was released after taking a bribe, is a matter of investigation. Attaching a photo of the action going on that day, the association has said that the action against overloading was being led by the local DSP.

Recovery in the name of DSP and Inspector

Truck Association says that passing of trucks is done by charging illegal money from Kahalgaon to Vikramshila Setu, Sanhaula to Ghogha and Kheri Dam on Amarpur Road. In the last three to four months, recovery is being made in the name of DSP and Inspector on the said route. Police also take action against vehicles loaded only with ballast and sand, whereas police do not take action against overloaded vehicles carrying fly aces without tarpaulin covering. Time is also wasted by stopping under loaded trucks at various places. Due to which the time of mining challan given to the vehicles expires and then illegal recovery is made. The association is against overloading. But whatever action the police takes, it should be done as per the rules and regulations.

The association has also gone to court

It has been informed that in the year 2019, the Truck Association had filed a writ petition in the court against these actions of the police. After the court order, the then DGP had issued an order that in the absence of mine officials, the police will neither check nor arrest any vehicles.
