New Delhi. Google India has sacked more than 400 employees. Some of the affected employees took to LinkedIn to share their pain. The layoffs at Google India were part of massive job cuts that have affected 12,000 employees globally at the company.
The Hindu Business Line was the first to report about the layoffs at Google India on February 16.
Kamal Dave, an account manager at Google’s Gurugram office, wrote on LinkedIn, “I too got laid off yesterday at Google India. At Google, I was working as an Account Manager/Consultant. Overseeing digital marketing goals for multiple industries. Completion was the focus of my work.”
Dave posted, “I am looking for a new role and would appreciate your support. Thanks in advance for any contacts, advice or opportunities.”
Another Google India employee who survived the layoff said, “It is really difficult to see them (colleagues) going through this.”
“It’s even more difficult, because you don’t know how to talk to them, what to say,” the employee said.
Denying that the layoffs were done “at random”, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai had earlier said he was “deeply sorry” for reducing the workforce.
In an email to employees, Pichai said he “takes full responsibility for the decisions that got us here”.(IANS)
