hazard! Someone else can use your WhatsApp account, take these steps immediately
[ad_1]
There is no need to login on WhatsApp like Facebook or any other app. To use it, just the phone number is needed. When you switch to a new number, your old number gets disconnected. In such a situation, someone else gets your old number. The WhatsApp account also becomes the one who has got your old number. That is, the person who has got your old number can get access to WhatsApp of your old number. This matter is not recent but very old but nothing has been done about it till now.
One such case happened in 2020 with Vice cybersecurity reporter Joseph Cox. He took a new phone number and accidentally got access to someone else’s WhatsApp account because that WhatsApp account was connected with that number.
Protect your WhatsApp account like this:
Are you also worried that if you get a new phone number, then the access of your WhatsApp account may go to someone else? There is a remedy for this. The easiest solution is to switch your old WhatsApp account with the new number whenever you get a new number. Also, be sure to sign-up for 2FA (two-factor authentication). After this, a 6 digit PIN will be required to login to your WhatsApp account.
How to enable two-factor authentication on WhatsApp:
- Go to Settings in WhatsApp.
- In this, go to the account and enable two-step verification.
- Now setup and confirm the 6 digit PIN of your choice.
- Enter email id or this step can also be skipped. However, providing an email ID gives you the option of performing a two-step reset and keeping your account secure. Therefore, we would recommend that you add the email ID as well.
- After this, confirm the ID by tapping on Next and save and done.
