New Delhi : India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp plans to launch the Hurrican and Hurican 440 motorcycles in the market on the platform of its American affiliate Harley Davidson 440. For this, the two-wheeler manufacturing company has registered the trademarks of both these names. It is being told in media reports that Hero MotoCorp can develop many other models on Harley Davidson’s 440 platform. Hurricane 440 is the second trademark of the company. Earlier he had booked the trademark for Nightstar.
Why did Hero MotoCorp name the model Hurricane?
Let us tell you that Hurricane is the name of tropical cyclonic storm. It is the most powerful and destructive. During this cyclonic storm, a low pressure weather system forms over water in tropical or sub-tropical areas. This causes strong storms. These types of cyclonic storms often occur in the Atlantic Basin, the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, the eastern North Pacific Ocean, and sometimes also in the central North Pacific Ocean. Hero MotoCorp has named its motorcycle model after this Hurricane.
What will these motorcycles be like?
It is being said in media reports that Hero MotoCorp’s Hurricane 440 could be a 440 platform based Hero-badged motorcycle in the premium segment of the company. This name may also hint at the third model of Harley Davidson which can be made available for sale in India in the coming days. It is believed that along with keeping the price attractive, the new motorcycle is expected to have some technical features similar to the X440. On the engine front, the upcoming bikes will be powered by the same 440 cc oil-cooled 2-valve SOHC single-cylinder engine as the X440. This engine currently generates power of 27 bhp and torque of 38 Nm, but it can be tuned differently for the new bike.
Hurricane design and combat
After launch, the Hero Hurricane 440 will have to compete with Royal Enfield’s 350 cc lineup as well as the Triumph Speed 400 and the upcoming Triumph Scrambler 400X. Its platform, components and engine may be similar to Harley-Davidson X440. Still, there will be a lot of difference between the two models. Exact details about Hero Hurricane 440 have not been revealed yet. However, it may feature design details like retro-themed round headlamps, a muscular fuel tank, bar-end mirrors, wide handlebars, sporty exhaust pipes and a circular instrument cluster.
Hero Hurricane Engine
Hero MotoCorp’s Hurricane 440 may get a 440C single-cylinder, oil and air-cooled engine, which is found in the Harley-Davidson X440. This engine generates 27 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm. The transmission may also be similar to the new Harley Davidson’s X440. However, different tuning can be done in it for special performance.
