Speaking at the inauguration of Nokia’s 6G Research Lab in Bengaluru, Nokia President and CEO Pekka Lundmark talks about the deployment of 5G connectivity networks in India. According to him, India is currently one of the largest 5G users and comes among the top 3 countries with the largest 5G installed base.
Let us tell you that this achievement shows significant progress in the development and implementation of 5G technology in India. According to Lundmark, this shows the country’s commitment to advancing telecommunication infrastructure. The 5G rollout in India is truly remarkable.
He said that this has been one of the fastest telecom network rollouts ever and India has a large 5G base. According to him, 5G download speeds in India are ahead of those found in many other advanced markets.
Despite a decline in telecom gear shipments in major countries, India’s 5G rollout has been able to offset the decline in Ericsson and Nokia’s business. Nokia reported 333 per cent growth in telecom equipment sales in India to nearly Rs 9,500 crore in the June quarter of 2023.
According to a report by JM Financial, Reliance Jio and Airtel can invest about Rs 75 thousand crore in the current financial year to strengthen their networks. According to the report, in the financial year 2024, Jio can invest about Rs 42 thousand crores and Bharti Airtel can invest about Rs 33 hundred crores.
However, according to Ghoshma, the investment will reduce once the 5G network roll out target is met. Nokia 6G Lab aims to accelerate the development of technologies based on 6G technology and their multiple uses. India has already obtained more than 200 patents on 65G technology.
