Government of India wants to become a fast growing digital economy. In such a situation, there should be a fixed internet speed limit for daily functioning. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI had also suggested increasing the minimum broadband speed from 512 Kbps to 2 Mbps.

According to TRAI data, by the end of November 2022, there used to be a total of 825.4 million broadband customers, of which 793.5 million were wireless users. The rest were users using internet through wireline.
