In fact, digital payment and financial technology platform PhonePe has introduced the facility of income tax payment through its app. PhonePe issued a statement saying that individual income tax payers and businesses can pay self-assessment tax and advance tax through UPI or credit card. The income tax payer will not need to connect to the income tax portal for payment of advance tax. This amount will be put on the tax portal in two working days.

This is how you can pay

Income tax payers can pay tax by logging into the app and choosing the option of income tax. For this, they have to give details of tax type, assessment year, Permanent Account Number (PAN). Taxpayer will get Unique Transaction Number i.e. UTR within one day of payment of tax. Payment challan will be available in two working days.

Four crore ITR filed, 80 lakh refunds

So far more than four crore Income Tax Returns (ITR) have been filed for the financial year 2022-23. Of these, more than half of the investigation has been completed. The Income Tax Department has so far issued 80 lakh refunds. Nitin Gupta, chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), gave this information.
