Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that India’s call for global cooperation and equal development for all, as well as its performance in transformative digitization, is discussed worldwide. He expressed confidence that India’s G20 presidency underlines strong messages that will leave an indelible mark. In an interview ahead of the G20 leaders’ summit to be held in New Delhi on September 9-10, Chandrasekhar described India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) as a force that no one can stop now. The minister said that its time has come and no one can stop it now. He said that the Indian approach to DPI does away with the old normal, which was about big tech companies dominating the sector. It paves the way for a new normal that is open source, proactive, consumer-driven, and non-intermediary. Chandrasekhar said, when more than one billion Indians are using it, who can oppose it?

Developing DPI as a main resource for every citizen

The Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology was here referring to the country’s payment, identity and other platforms, which have attracted the attention of several countries with several MoUs already signed. India is developing its DPI as a main resource for every citizen. Chandrashekhar said India’s message as the current chair of the G20, a grouping of the world’s largest economies, has been about rapid, inclusive and resilient growth for all. The minister said that with India drawing global attention towards cooperation for the common welfare and global macroeconomic stability, its (India’s) vision and belief is not limited to its G20 chairmanship. He said that at the same time India also emphasized that the power of technology, innovation and youth force across the world will shape the global future.

India’s G20 presidency certainly left a very indelible mark in more ways than one

Chandrasekhar said that India chaired the G20 in a responsible manner and has always kept world interest above personal interest. He said, I think this is an example of responsible behavior that all big countries should adopt. Some countries do this, although some countries do not. Chandrasekhar said that India’s G20 presidency has definitely left a very indelible mark in many ways.
