Two soldiers were martyred, three were injured
On February 7, 2024, a team of Sadar Police, Vashishtha Nagar Police and Forest Department had gone to Gamhartari to destroy poppy (opium) cultivation. She was returning after destroying the poppy crop. During this time, TSPC militants, who were already in ambush, opened fire near Barrio of Sadar police station area. In this, two soldiers were martyred and three soldiers were injured.

The martyred soldiers included Ashok Singh, resident of Khiryanwa of Wazirganj police station area of Gaya district of Bihar and Sukan Ram, resident of Tarshi village of Tarshi police station area of Palamu district. In view of the martyrdom of martyrs Sukan Ram and Sikandar Singh, it has been decided not to celebrate Holi.

Chatra SP Vikas Kumar Pandey wished the people of the district on the festival of colours, Holi. He appealed to the people to celebrate Holi in a peaceful atmosphere with mutual love and goodwill.
