  • 23.1 GB per user per month

  • Jio True 5G rollout and fiber cable connection increased demand

  • Data consumption increased 1.8 times in two years

  • Users are talking 1,003 minutes per month on Jio network

Jio users used 10 exabytes i.e. 10 billion GB of data in a month. How big this figure is can be gauged from the fact that in 2016, when Reliance Jio entered the telecom sector, at that time the data consumption on all available networks across the country was only 4.6 exabytes and that too not for a month. Whole year long. For the first time in India, 10 exabytes of data has been consumed in a month on the network of any telecom company. The data consumption figure on the Jio network was 30.3 exabytes in the March quarter. Reliance Jio disclosed this in its quarterly results.

Jio True 5G rollout played an important role in increasing data consumption. Jio user is now spending an average of 23.1 GB data every month. Which was only 13.3 GB per month till two years ago. That is, each Jio user is consuming about 10 GB more data per month as compared to 2 years ago. This average of data consumption on Jio network is much higher than the average of the telecom industry.

According to the quarterly results, by March 2023, Jio had installed more than 3.5 lakh 5G cells on 60 thousand sites. More than 2,300 cities and towns across the country have come under 5G coverage and Jio users are using 5G services in large numbers. The company claims that Jio is rolling out 5G very fast. There is no such example of 5G rollout around the world. The company wants to provide 5G coverage across the country by the end of 2023.

Along with the 5G rollout, the company is also preparing for the launch of Airfiber. Jio told that its launch is possible in the next few months. Reliance Jio aims to connect 10 crore homes with fiber and airfibre.

Some more important things also came out in the results, like Jio’s average revenue per user per month (ARPU) has increased to Rs 178.8. Every day users are doing 1,459 crore minutes of conversation (voice calling) on the company’s network. About 1,003 minutes of calling is being done every month on every phone connected to Jio network.
