The 5G rollout played a key role in increasing data consumption. Jio users are now spending an average of 23.1 GB of data per month. Which was only 13.3 GB per month till two years ago. That is, each Jio user is consuming about 10 GB more data per month than 2 years ago. This average of data consumption on Jio network is much higher than the telecom industry average.
According to the quarterly results, by March 2023, Jio had installed more than 3.5 lakh 5G cells on 60 thousand sites. More than 2,300 cities and towns across the country have come under 5G coverage and a large number of Jio users are using 5G services. The company claims that Jio is rolling out 5G very fast. There is no such example of 5G rollout around the world. The company wants to provide 5G coverage across the country by the end of 2023.
Along with the 5G rollout, the company is also gearing up for the launch of AirFiber. Jio told that its launch is possible in the next few months. Reliance Jio aims to connect 10 crore homes with fiber and airfibre.
Some more important things also came out in the results, like Jio’s average revenue per user per month (ARPU) has increased to Rs 178.8. Every day users are doing 1,459 crore minutes of conversation (voice calling) on the company’s network. About 1,003 minutes of calling is being done every month on every phone connected to the Jio network.
