According to media reports, there was a fierce fight in Jhalana RTO of Jaipur in the months of October and November to get VIP numbers of vehicles. According to the report, from October 18 to November 22, people spent more than Rs 20 lakh on vehicle numbers. Vehicle owners have paid this price only for the VIP numbers of the vehicles. The price of a number 0001 sold on November 22 was Rs 5 lakh 5 thousand. There is an online process to get the preferred number in RTO. The Transport Department has fixed the rate of VIP numbers and on asking for that number online, a fixed price has to be paid. But if another vehicle owner bids more for the same number online, then the number gets given to the one who pays more.
People spent more than Rs 2 crore in two years
Quoting Jaipur’s Jhalana RTO Virendra Singh, the report said that in the last two years, people of Rajasthan spent crores of rupees to get VIP numbers. It has been said in the report that people have spent Rs 2,08,11,000 in about two years to get the preferred number for their car. Apart from this, people also spent thousands and lakhs of rupees to get the numbers of their old vehicle transferred to the new vehicle.
Bidding takes place online
The biggest thing is that bidding for VIP numbers is done online. It has been told in the report that in the month of October, among the top 10 numbers, the lowest price was paid for the number 0006. One lakh 2 thousand rupees were paid for this. Getting VIP number depends on the luck of the customer. If no other customer bids on getting the VIP number online, then the number will be available at the fixed price. At the same time, if another person jumps online for the same number, then that number becomes more expensive. The biggest thing is that this increases the income of the transport department.
