Unveiled in front of Nitin Gadkari
This tractor was unveiled on the first day of the four-day conference in the presence of Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India. Gadkari said on this occasion that by using CNG tractors, farmers will save a lot as compared to diesel. He also said that this will also help in reducing environmental pollution.
Tractor made in Mahindra Research Valley
Mahindra Tractors says that leveraging its expertise in the development of CNG vehicles, it has prioritized optimal emission control, performance and operating cost efficiency. It has been developed and tested at Mahindra Research Valley located in Chennai.
Up to 70% less emissions
Mahindra claims that the CNG tractor offers power and performance at par with diesel-powered tractors while reducing emissions by about 70% compared to its diesel counterpart. It also offers low engine vibration which helps reduce noise levels, 3.5db lower than diesel tractors. This enhancement not only facilitates extended working hours and engine life but also enhances operator comfort, making it suitable for both agricultural and non-agricultural applications.
Estimated saving of Rs 100 per hour on diesel tractors
CNG tractors easily handle various agricultural and haulage applications while matching the capabilities of existing diesel tractors. Mahindra’s CNG tractors have four tanks each with a capacity of 45 liters of water, or 24 kg of gas on-board, filled at 200-bar pressure. The company estimates savings of Rs 100 per hour on diesel tractors.
A gamechanger for the Indian agriculture sector
Mahindra Tractors believes that CNG tractors will prove to be a gamechanger for the Indian agriculture sector. The company says that it will make this tractor available all over India and will encourage farmers to adopt CNG tractors.
