Mahindra XUV300 Flex Fuel showcased at Mobility Show
India’s leading automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra showcased the XUV300 flex-fuel prototype at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 held in Delhi in early February 2024. This SUV car of the company will now run on 85 percent ethanol mixed petrol. The prototype displayed at the event is based on the W6 variant of Mahindra XUV300.
Mahindra XUV300 Flex Fuel Engine
Mahindra XUV300 flex fuel SUV is based on the W6 variant. It comes with a 1.2-litre, inline three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine, mated to a manual gearbox. The motor of this engine is capable of generating power of 109 bhp and peak torque of 200 Nm.
Features of Mahindra XUV300 Flex Fuel
Talking about the features list of Mahindra XUV300 Flex Fuel, its most special feature is its powertrain. It runs on mixed fuel. It has BS6 2-combination turbocharged engine. This SUV is capable of running on E20 fuel (20 percent to 85 percent ethanol from gasoline). Its design looks similar to the regular XUV.

It is expected that Mahindra will start its production in early 2025 along with flex-fuel vehicles from other carmakers. Along with this, it is also being estimated that after its launch in the market, its starting price in ex-showroom may be around Rs 7.99 lakh.
What is ethanol?
Let us tell you that ethanol is prepared from sugarcane juice. When sugar is produced in mills from sugarcane juice, ethanol is separated from it. This is a chemical process. Ethanol is used in making spirits and fuel as well as in the manufacturing of many other items. Flex fuel is prepared from a mixture of ethanol and methanol or methane. Flex fuel is much cheaper than petrol and diesel. That is why amidst the rising prices of petrol and diesel, people of India have started using flex fuel as an alternative fuel.
