But, in the month of February 2023, the market share of the country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai Motor India decreased, while the market share of Tata Motors, Mahindra and Kia India increased on an annual basis. This information has come from the Federation of Vehicle Dealer Associations (FADA).
According to the retail sales data released by FADA, retail sales of Maruti Suzuki rose to 1,18,892 units last month. Its sales in February 2022 were 1,09,611 units. However, MSI’s market share declined marginally to 41.40 per cent in February. It was 42.36 percent in the same period a year ago.
Similarly, Hyundai Motor India’s market share declined from 14.95 per cent to 13.62 per cent last month. The company sold 39,106 units last month. In February 2022, the company sold 38,688 vehicles. According to the data, retail sales of Tata Motors increased to 38,965 units in February. It was 34,055 units in February last year. At the same time, its market share also increased from 13.16 percent to 13.57 percent last month.
Similarly, Mahindra & Mahindra’s market share increased to 10.22 per cent on a year-on-year basis last month. In February 2022, this figure was 7.06 percent. The company’s retail sales also increased to 29,356 units from 18,264 units in February. At the same time, retail sales of Kia India also increased from 13,623 units to 19,554 units in February 2022. Its market share also increased from 5.27 percent to 6.81 percent.
Similarly, the market share of other auto companies – Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Skoda Auto Volkswagen Group has also increased in February on an annual basis. However, the market share of Honda Cars, Renault, MG Motor India and Nissan Motor India declined in the last month.
