Meanwhile, automobile manufacturing companies Maruti Suzuki India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai Motor India and luxury car maker Audi have started relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, which are facing the havoc of Michong.
Maruti sent relief material from 46 trucks
According to media reports, Maruti Suzuki India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai Motor and luxury car manufacturer Audi have provided assistance to customers in cyclone and flood affected areas of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. According to the statement issued by Maruti Suzuki India, it has collaborated with its dealer partners and made several arrangements in its workshops. As soon as the news of cyclone ‘Michong’ was received, the company sent about seven lakh messages (SMS). In this, customers were informed about the precautionary measures to ensure that customers take steps to protect their cars from possible damage before the cyclone hits. According to the company, 46 tow trucks and 34 support vehicles were arranged in neighboring cities for quick response.
Mahindra is repairing vehicles for free on the roadside
On the other hand, in a statement issued by Mahindra & Mahindra, it has been said that it has started providing roadside assistance to its customers in the affected areas through special discounts. The vehicle is being examined, damage is being assessed and financial relief is being provided without any charge. Along with this, Audi has also announced to provide 24×7 roadside assistance to the customers affected by the floods in Chennai for their vehicles.
Hyundai Motor will provide financial assistance of Rs 3 crore
Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said that in view of the challenges being faced in Chennai city, we are making every possible effort to help our customers in the city. On the other hand, Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) unit of Hyundai Motor India, has announced financial assistance of Rs 3 crore to help the people affected by the cyclone in Tamil Nadu.
Heavy devastation from Michong in Chennai
Two days after cyclone ‘Michong’ caused massive devastation in Chennai and its surrounding districts, on Wednesday also the local people had to face the problem of waterlogging and power cuts. Employees of local agencies have intensified relief and rescue efforts. Meanwhile, the government said power has been cut in some areas as a precautionary measure due to electrical wires falling into water, while all efforts are being made to restore normalcy. Another day holiday has been declared in schools and colleges in Chennai for 7th December.
Flood in many areas including Velachery and Tambaram
Due to heavy rains due to the cyclone, many areas including Velachery and Tambaram were flooded. Even on Wednesday, people were seen leaving their homes in waterlogged areas and moving to safer places. People with their children had to walk through knee-deep water on the roads. People appealed for help, including sending more boats to reach safer places. Chief Minister MK Stalin visited several rain-affected areas and distributed food and essential materials to people taking shelter at a relief center in the city. He also took stock of the efforts being made by the local body of the city for drainage.
