“Since 2016, Messenger has had the option for people to turn on end-to-end encryption, but we now make private chats and calls on Messenger end-to-end encrypted by default,” Meta said in a statement late Wednesday. are turning into.”
The company said the new features will be available for use immediately, although it may take some time for Messenger chats to be updated with default end-to-end encryption.

“You can still report abuse in an edited message and Meta will be able to see previous versions of the edited message,” Meta said.
Disappearing messages on Messenger now last 24 hours after they were sent. Disappearing messages on Messenger are only available for end-to-end encrypted conversations.
“We’re also improving the interface to make it easier to tell when disappearing messages are turned on,” the company said. “This will help people feel confident that their messages will remain secure and will not linger forever.”
People share more than 1.3 billion photos and videos on Messenger every day.
The company has now simplified access to photos and videos, upgraded image quality, added fun layouts and introduced more controls so users can reply or react to any photo or video in the collection.
“We are currently testing HD media and file sharing improvements with a small group of users and plan to expand them in the coming months,” Meta said.
You can now play audio messages at half or double the speed, pick up where you left off, and continue listening to audio messages when you walk away from a chat or app.
