Meta may release smart glasses, smartwatch in 2025

San Francisco. Meta is reportedly planning to release its first pair of smart glasses with a display in 2025, along with a neural interface smartwatch designed to control them.

During a roadmap presentation of its AR and VR efforts on Tuesday, Meta’s Reality Labs division shared details with thousands of employees.

According to the report, Alex Himmel, the company’s vice president for AR, said that in 2025, the third generation of smart glasses will ship with a display that he described as being able to view incoming text messages, scan QR codes, and translate text from another language. Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the company is building a new ‘top-level’ product team that will be ‘focused’ on generative artificial intelligence (AI).
