San Francisco. Meta is reportedly planning to train a new artificial intelligence (AI) model, which is likely to be as powerful as OpenAI’s latest chatbot GPT-4.
As The Wall Street Journal reports, Meta is buying more Nvidia H100 AI-training chips and improving its infrastructure to train the new chatbot.
The company reportedly plans to begin training new large language models as early as 2024.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is likely to initially keep the AI tools free for companies and researchers.
The report mentions that Meta has assembled a group to build new AI models, with the goal of accelerating the creation of AI tools that can simulate human expressions.
The company last month launched its AI tool called Code Llama for creating new code and debugging human-written work. You can use text prompts to generate and discuss Large Language Model (LLM) code.
“Code Llama is state-of-the-art for publicly available LLM on coding tasks,” Meta said in a statement. “It has the potential to make workflows faster and more efficient for developers and lower the barrier to entry for people learning to code.”
Code Llama has the potential to be used as a productivity and educational tool to help programmers write more robust, well-documented software.
Code Llama is a code-specialized version of Llama 2 that was created by further training Llama 2 on its code-specific dataset, sampling more data from the same dataset over a longer period of time.
In February this year, Zuckerberg had announced that the company was creating a new “top-level” product team that would focus on generative artificial intelligence (AI). (IANS)
