The Government of India has blocked about 55,580 websites from the year 2015 to 2022. This includes not only websites but also social media posts. Also includes accounts. Explain that most of these i.e. 26,474 websites have been blocked under IT Act Sec 69A. This is 47.6 percent of this figure. Of these, 26,352 websites have been blocked by MEITY. At the same time, MIB has blocked 94 websites.

The government has also closed many mobile apps. Please tell that MEITY has also blocked 274 apps. According to the reports, all the apps that have been closed used to steal the data of the users.
Why are websites blocked?

This includes India’s integrity and sovereignty, defense matters, foreign relations, public order, etc. Some websites are associated with organizations that are banned by the Unlawful Activities Act, 1967 (UAPA). That’s why they are banned.
- Also, if wrong publicity is being done from any website or any harm is being caused by it, then such websites are banned.
- If any website or post etc. is blocked due to copyright infringement, obscenity, defamation, public disorder, law and order and contempt of court.
- The reasons for blocking mobile applications also include the above. Along with this, it has also been said that these applications steal the data of the users. They send them out of India.
