The Union Health Ministry has directed all platforms to issue warnings during the display of any photo or video of smoking within three months. If this does not happen, then action will be taken against the companies providing OTT content. OTT content provider companies of news agency Reuters say that this is a kind of encroachment on the freedom of expression of the creators.
Warning will have to be issued before and after the show
According to the new rule, OTT companies will have to issue warnings about the use of tobacco at the beginning and end of every show. Companies will have to show anti-tobacco advertisements of at least 50 seconds. This can include audio and visuals.
