London . Elon Musk-run X Corp has sued anti-hate organization Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) over illegal acts for improperly accessing its data.
X accused the UK-based non-profit of making false claims, stating that they had statistical data indicating that there was harmful content on the platform.
In a statement, the CCDH accused X boss Musk of trying to silence someone who criticized him, the BBC reported on Wednesday.
CCDH chief executive Imran Ahmed said in a statement: “Musk’s latest legal threat is a straight line of authoritarian moves, showing he will stop at nothing to silence anyone who criticizes him.”
The case has been filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. He seeks damages against the nonprofit. The CCDH has produced several reports criticizing Twitter.
The lawsuit alleges that an unnamed third party improperly shared his Brandwatch login details with CCDH, allowing them to gain unauthorized access to the data.
According to the report, the lawsuit follows a July 20 letter sent by X to CCDH, accusing the organization of making inflammatory, defamatory and false or misleading claims about Twitter and suggested that the company And a conspiracy has been hatched to remove advertisers from Twitter by defaming its owner.
Twitter has also filed a data-scraping lawsuit in the US, seeking damages of over $1 million for “unlawfully scraping data belonging to Texas residents”.(IANS)
